Honest Rates, No Surprises

Exchange rates move with the world market, so our rates are set fresh each day. Before you hand over a cent, we'll quote you exactly what you'll receive - the rate, the amount, the lot. If you're happy, the deal is done on the spot.

Exchanging with a person also means you can ask the questions a currency website won't answer: what mix of notes to take, how much cash makes sense for your destination, and what to do with the leftovers when you're back.

How Currency Exchange Works

From Aussie dollars to travel money in four simple steps

1

Drop into your nearest Cash Stop branch

No appointment, no account, no minimums - every branch exchanges currency over the counter, five days a week. For less common currencies, a quick call ahead lets us arrange them for you.

2

Bring your money and a photo ID

Bring the Australian dollars you'd like to exchange (or your foreign notes to sell back) and a current photo ID like a driver's licence or passport.

3

Get a full quote at today's rate

We'll show you the day's rate and quote exactly what you'll receive before anything changes hands. No obligation - if you want to shop around, that's fine by us.

4

Walk out with your money, sorted

Happy with the quote? The exchange happens right there at the counter, and you leave with your travel money in hand - or fresh Australian dollars from your leftovers.

Travel Money Tips From the Counter

Our staff exchange currency every day - here's what they'd tell a mate before a trip:

  • Take a mix of notes. Big notes are compact, but small notes are king for taxis, tips and street food when you land.
  • Don't leave it until the airport. Airport kiosks are convenient, and their rates usually reflect it.
  • Carry a backup. Cash plus a card beats either one alone - some places are card-only, plenty are still cash-only.
  • Sell back your leftovers. Foreign notes in a drawer earn nothing. Bring them in and turn them back into dollars.

Got a question we haven't covered? Ask in store - there's no such thing as a silly currency question.
